A few months ago I wanted to purchase a CD player for daughter's room. I wanted to be able to play CD's while we play in her room and have her listen to classical music while going to sleep. My husband suggested we just buy a speaker and use one of our old phones and play Pandora. Yes, this would be the "cost effective" way to go. But one, we listen to the free version of Pandora, so I did not want loud commercials to wake my child up and second, I wanted to be able to play certain music at certain times. We are slowly starting a collection of up of all the Disney movie soundtracks. I thought a CD player would be the best way to go.

Nursery Wall Art

Since we are not finding out the sex of the baby we decided it was best to go with something gender neutral for the nursery. Most of you know I love pandas! This was the perfect opportunity to incorporate pandas into the mix. I did not want to go black and white theme and base it just on the pandas, so I thought why not make it jungle themed/ABC themed. That way I am not limited to just buying panda items. My goal is to keep the nursery colors fairly light and pastel-like. That is just always how I envisioned our child's nursery to be.

We got my husband's adorable wooden cradle from when he was a baby. I love it! Its so old fashioned and different from today's style.

Since its old and custom made its a little difficult to find sheets for it. So it just made sense for me to make my own.

So its official, we are going to be parents!!!

We are due October 17th, 2015!

easter2We made the announcement on Easter weekend to all our family and close friends. Everyone was really excited for us. It was super hard to keep it a secret until 12 weeks but we did it! We told a few of our close friends very early on and we told our parents after our 8 week appointment.

I really need to get in the habit of taking more pictures, I wish I had taken pictures of my husband's old toy chest in the original form.

It was painted brick red and we were looking for it to flow more in the house. We decided that staining it would be the best way to go, so we went with a dark cherry stain. Little did we know what a huge project this would turn out to be.

Here are a few pictures during the process:

This was before it was sanded, we had to use paint removal to get all the red paint off the toy chest. This was a very tedious job that took endless hours! We had to use a toothpick to remove all the red paint in the crevices.

Four of my friends were all having baby's within weeks of eachother. I was trying to figure out what to get them, I wanted it to be something special and not just toys and clothes.  I always remember my Grandmother knitting blankets for all her grandchilden and new members of the family when I was little. She was the first one to teach me how to knit. Back in my college days while I was working at Hallmark I had a co-worker show me the basics on crocheting.

Long story short I started off knitting my first baby blanket, I lost one of the stitches and tried for hours to pick it back up. I had 4 months to make 4 baby blankets. This is when I decided crocheting would be best route to take.

Here they are...3 boys and 1 girl...

Total Cost of Project: $27.00 (including costs of paint and canvas's)

One of my girlfriends is having a little boy and she decided to decorate his room based on the Disney movie "Cars." She was telling me how ridiculous the price of artwork was to display on the wall. I thought about some and thought, I do paintings for my house why not attempt this for her. When it comes to painting I am more the "abstract artist" I am not usually one to paint people/animals or cartoons. I did some searching online and she gave me a picture of what the baby's bedding would like and here is what I came up with...
